AI-powered lesson debriefs

Know exactly when a pupil is test-ready

No more gut feeling. Orbit analyses syllabus coverage, competency scores, lesson frequency, and consistency to give you a data-driven view of test readiness. If the pupil practises theory in their Orbit account, you also see how ready they are for the theory test. Recommend test dates with confidence and reduce the number of pupils who fail because they weren't quite ready.

  • Readiness score based on syllabus completion and competency grades
  • Highlights gaps that need addressing before test day
  • Track mock test results alongside real progress
  • Theory test readiness from the pupil's own practice, with their weakest topics
  • Active, Waiting, Inactive, and Passed status tabs to organise your roster

Messages and reflective logs in one place

Keep lesson chat out of your personal WhatsApp. Message any pupil from Orbit and the whole conversation stays on their record. After each lesson, pupils are prompted to fill in a reflective log: what went well, what was hard, what to work on and how they felt out of 5. You see it on the lesson in their record, and you can write or edit the log yourself.

  • One message thread per pupil, kept in Orbit
  • Pupils without an Orbit account get your messages by email
  • One reflective log per lesson, which you and your pupil can both write
  • Pupil-written logs are marked so you know who wrote them
FAQ

Questions & answers

How does progress tracking work?
Every lesson you teach is logged with structured notes, competency scores, and DVSA syllabus elements covered. Orbit builds a timeline of each pupil's development so you can see exactly where they are and what they need to work on next. Progress is tracked automatically as you mark syllabus items and update competency grades.
What DVSA syllabus elements are tracked?
Orbit covers the full DVSA recommended syllabus for learning to drive, including all core competencies such as moving off and stopping, use of mirrors, turning, emerging, roundabouts, dual carriageways, independent driving, and all manoeuvres. Each element can be marked as introduced, covered, or competent.
Can I import pupils from another system?
Yes. Settings → Import reads a Total Drive export or any CSV and brings across your pupils and their lessons: date, time, duration, status, rate, pickup address and notes. Outstanding balances aren't imported, so add those by hand. If you only need contact details, Pupils → Import takes a simple list of names, phone numbers and emails.
How do AI lesson debriefs work?
After each lesson, you can dictate a quick voice note summarising what you covered. Orbit transcribes it and uses AI to extract structured data - syllabus elements practised, competency observations, and next-lesson recommendations. It takes 30 seconds instead of five minutes of writing.
Can pupils see their own progress?
Yes, through the Pupil Portal. Pupils get a link where they can view their syllabus progress, upcoming lessons, and balance. You control what is shared - competency scores and instructor notes remain private unless you choose to share them.
Can I see how my pupils are getting on with their theory test?
Yes. When a pupil practises theory questions in their Orbit account, their pupil record shows you a theory readiness score out of 100, rated on track, getting there or needs work, with the factors behind it and their weakest topics by accuracy. Every pupil account gets 10 free practice questions a day.
Can I message my pupils in Orbit?
Yes. Each pupil has a message thread with you in Orbit. Pupils with an Orbit account reply from their inbox. Pupils without one get each message by email with a link to their portal, so nothing gets missed.
