Cookie Policy

What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Browsers also offer similar storage (local storage and session storage), and this policy covers both. This site is operated by DriveTech Group Limited; see our Privacy Policy for how we use personal data.
Your choice
When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. "Accept all" and "Reject all" are equally easy. Until you choose "Accept all", PostHog stays switched off and stores nothing on your device, and Google Tag Manager is not loaded at all, so Google Analytics and the Meta pixel neither run nor set cookies. Closing the banner without choosing counts as no, and the banner will ask again on your next visit. We remember your choice in your browser's local storage (drivepro_consent) until you clear it.
You can change your choice at any time here:
Your current choice: not chosen yet, so analytics cookies are off
Cookies we use
Essential cookies
These keep you signed in, keep payments and forms secure, and are needed for the service to work. They don't need your consent and can't be switched off here. Names may start with __Secure- or __Host- on our live site.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| authjs.session-token | Keeps instructors signed in to the app | Up to 180 days |
| authjs.csrf-token, authjs.callback-url, authjs.pkce.*, authjs.state | Protect the instructor sign-in process, including Sign in with Google, against forgery | Session to 15 minutes |
| pupil-session.* | Keeps learners signed in to their account | Up to 180 days |
| enterprise-session.* | Keeps driving school staff signed in to the school portal | 7 days |
| trainer-session.* | Keeps training provider staff signed in to the trainer portal | 7 days |
| admin-session.*, drivepro_impersonation | Staff sign-in, two-factor check and support access (our staff only) | Up to 24 hours |
| dp_enterprise_key | Carries a driving school licence key through sign-up | 1 hour |
| dp_store_app | Tells the site it is running inside our installed app | 400 days |
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Set by Stripe on payment pages to prevent card fraud | 1 year / 30 minutes |
| _GRECAPTCHA | Set by Google reCAPTCHA on public forms to tell people from spam bots | 6 months |
Live chat cookies
The Crisp live chat only loads when you click "Chat". Until then nothing from Crisp runs on your device.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| crisp-client/* | Set by Crisp, only after you click "Chat", so the live chat remembers your conversation | Up to 6 months |
Analytics and advertising cookies (only with your consent)
Set only after you choose "Accept all". Session recordings mask what you type into forms. If you arrive through a campaign or partner link before choosing, that link is held in your browser's session storage (cleared when you close the tab) and only saved as a cookie if you accept.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| ph_*_posthog | PostHog product analytics and session recordings, which show us how the app is used so we can fix problems | 1 year |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager, which loads only after you accept): counts visits and where they came from | 2 years |
| _fbp | Meta pixel (loaded through Google Tag Manager, only after you accept): measures visits from our Facebook and Instagram adverts | 3 months |
| dp_utm | Remembers the campaign (utm_*) link that brought you to the site, so we can tell which campaigns lead to sign-ups | 90 days |
| drivepro_referral | Remembers which partner referred you, so the sign-up is credited to them | 30 days |
Other technologies
- Sentry, our error monitoring service, reports errors without setting cookies. Only if you accept analytics cookies does it also record screen replays (text and form inputs masked) and keep a replay session identifier in your browser's session storage, cleared when you close the tab
- Videos in teaching resources are embedded from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) and Vimeo, which may set their own cookies when you play a video
- If you allow notifications, your browser stores a push subscription so we can send them. You can turn notifications off in your browser or device settings
Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in. Rejecting analytics stops new data being collected; to remove analytics cookies already set, delete them in your browser.
