Why ADIs are switching

Free for instructors — no weekly franchise fee

The AA's All-Inclusive franchise costs from £201 a week, plus a £180 admin fee and £170 deposit (AA published pricing, checked 28 September 2026). Orbit is free for driving instructors, with no contract. You arrange your own car and insurance, and you keep full control of your business.

Build your own brand and reputation

With the AA, pupils remember the brand - not you. Go independent and every recommendation, every review, and every referral builds YOUR business. That goodwill stays with you forever.

HMRC Making Tax Digital built in

Orbit keeps your lesson income and expenses in one place and totals them into your quarterly Making Tax Digital updates. It's built on HMRC's MTD for Income Tax API and completing HMRC's software recognition process; live submissions open once HMRC approves it.

How it works

Switch in 4 simple steps

Check your AA contract

Review your franchise agreement for notice period and end date. Most AA contracts require written notice - typically 3-6 months. Plan ahead.

Sign up to Orbit

Create your free account during your notice period. No card needed. Set up your booking page, configure your availability and rates.

Arrange your own car and insurance

Source your own dual-control car and ADI insurance. Many instructors save money compared to the franchise lease. Your car, your choice.

Transition your pupils

Let your pupils know you're going independent. Share your new Orbit booking link. Most pupils follow their instructor, not the franchise brand.
